With life getting busier every week and new bars, restaurants and events opening every month, staying on top can be tricky. So here’s a round up of this month’s hottest happenings in and around the local area…­­­­­
 
What? Jersey Reds v Ealing Trailfinders
Where? Rue des Landes, St. Peter, Jersey
When? 8th February 2020 2pm – 4:30pm
Come and watch the Jersey Reds and enjoy the family atmosphere at St. Peter. The Reds were promoted five times between 2005 - 2012 and now play in the Greene King IPA Championship, the second tier of English Rugby. The Reds are now in their eighth season at this level, having achieved their best-ever finish of fourth place in 2018-19.
 
What? Vikings! - Half Term
Where? Maritime Museum, New North Quay, Jersey
When? 17th – 24th February 2020
This February Half Term, join us for five days of fun with stories, action activities, and crafts as you discover the story of the Vikings. This fantastic event has something to entertain everyone. So dig out your helmets and shields, and become a viking for the day. This event is free for Jersey Heritage Members.
 
What? Bioluminescence on the Beach

When? 18th and 19th February 2020
As night descends and the ocean recedes, star-like shapes of luminous green begin to twinkle and sparkle in a few special spots at low tide. Experience the uniqueness of bioluminescent creatures and other marine life on this “moonwalk” across the seabed. In just a few hours the ocean will return to cover your footprints by up to 40ft. Expect to get your feet wet.
 
What? Wildlife & Wellness Walk - Fern Valley
Where? The Union Inn, La Grande Route de Saint Jean, Jersey
When? 21st February 2020 10:15am to 11:45am
Join Neil and Alli for a wildlife walk around Fern Valley. You will be looking and listening for the first signs of spring and enjoying the cool winter air. Birds singing and thinking about pairing up, the first buds on the trees and snowdrops or daffodils starting to flower - all bringing some extra colour to this picturesque woodland.
 
What? Sea Foraging & Oyster Trail

When? 9th and 23rd of February 2020
In the past, Jersey folk called it low water fishing. Today it's called foraging. Whatever the name, join us on a marine wild food foray as we stroll down to the largest oyster beds in the British Isles. We'll reveal what you can forage from the sea and share stories of the 19th century oyster fishing, Jersey's gold rush. Finish the walk with a taste of the sea, sample six natural or grilled Jersey Oysters and a glass of wine or beer at Seymour Pub & Restaurant.
 
What? Ben Fogle: Tales From The Wilderness
Where? Gloucester Street, St. Helier, Jersey
When? 28th February 2020 8pm – 10pm
Join Ben in this uplifting and exciting show, when he’ll be sharing his stories of the wilderness.  Ben has climbed Everest, been swimming with crocodiles, saved elephants, dodged pirates, been marooned for a year on an uninhabited island, walked to the South Pole, Crossed the Empty Quarter with camels, rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, tracked the Migration of the Wilderbeest, swum from Alcatraz, had a flesh eating disease and messed around with ferrets!
 
What? Dark Aerial Trekking and Zip Wire
Where? Mont a la Brune, Jersey
When? 7th, 14th, and 21st February 2020
Dark Trekking is back! It may be winter but the fun never stops in the valley! Tackle the obstacles of the aerial trekking, plunge into darkness on the powerfan, and fly through the night on the zip wire.
 
What? Seabed Moonwalk to the End of Jersey

When? 11th February 2020 12:45pm to 4:45pm
Walk into a world of remarkable colour as you head almost two miles across the seabed – beyond Seymour Tower to Karame Beacon and the Violet Bank. Discover the lunar-like terrain, which has given the walk it's title “Moonwalk”. On an extreme low tide you'll reach the edge of Jersey’s wilderness where only squawking seagulls, the sound of the ocean and stillness surround you.
