The Jersey Bulls start a new season
A newly formed football team has hit Jersey, hoping to score high both in Jersey and across to England.
Created off the back of other Jersey sporting successes such as Jersey Reds Rugby, and Team Jets Netball who compete regularly in competitive leagues at UK national level, The Jersey Bulls are realising a long held dream of football-loving Islanders everywhere - joining the English football league!
Following the route taken by Guernsey FC eight years ago, they have joined Combined Counties Division One, the 10th tier of English football.
Founder members and supporters of Jersey Bulls FC include local sportspeople, politicians, lawyers, finance professionals and businessmen. Its founder and Director of Operations is former Muratti player, Russell Le Feuvre, Head of PE at Les Quennevais School who said:
“Jersey Bulls FC provides the inspiration for footballers to play at a high level, it will showcase Jersey and raise the profile of the island, it will bring together the local community, and it will provide businesses with the opportunity to be involved in a project at the heart of island sport and island life.”
With a passion for helping to raise the profile and prospects of Jersey’s footballers at every age and standard, the club will run for the benefit of all and many of Jersey’s residents are excited at the prospect of cheering the team on, both on the island at Springfield and at away games!
So, joining the anticipation and excitement of all our islanders, we will continue to “Back the bulls!”.
