The minimum detection as required within the Minimum Standards and Prescribed Hazards (Jersey) Order 2018 is to have a smoke detector in the hall and on the landing. It can be battery or hard wired. If you have battery version, please check the date as it is recommended not to be more than 10 years old.




The highest standard of detection as required within the Fire Precautions (Jersey) Law 1977 “All areas where a fire can start


Tenants also have a responsibility during the tenancy to periodically check the test function is working.
