Summer in Jersey is a special time of year.
Tourists flock here to enjoy the warm weather, the family friendly events, and the wonderful beaches. For landlords, whether new or well seasoned in the renting game, summer brings its own challenges.
Summer is a popular time to move home for many reasons – the warm weather and lack of rain means you can easily move those boxes in and out without fretting about your TV getting ruined in the rain, or having to get wrapped up in multiple coats, hats and scarves. You can leave your front door (and the car/van door) wide open without risk of the weather getting in. Summer time also makes it easy to get the time off work to make the move, and the kids are off school so there’s no need to worry about the school run.
The issue this creates for landlords is that many of their tenants choose to leave at this time, making the move to another home or off the island, and landlords may panic, scrambling to fill their properties at the last minute.
Private landlords may also be fretting about leaving for their summer holidays, not wanting to leave their property unattended in case an emergency occurs, and they can’t deal with it.
This is why we’ve introduced a brand new summer offer for landlords!
During the months of June, July, and August, we’re offering a special discount promotion on our renowned letting and management services. We will provide a dedicated team to source new tenants, which includes screening and references to ensure desirable applicants.
Using our extensive knowledge and expertise, we will guide you through the letting process to ensure a relaxed and successful outcome!
Before summer hits, why not ensure your home is fully prepared for a new tenant with these useful tips:
-
If you have air conditioning, make sure it’s serviced. Change the filter, and check it kicks in when turned on. If any issues arise, you can get it fixed quickly before it’s needed.
-
Safeguard against water damage. With hot weather can come the odd thunderstorm, so check your pipes and guttering are clear, and that your roof is in good condition.
-
Bug proof the property. With pests looking for shelter from the hot sun, you could end up with an infestation over summer. Check there are no cracks or gaps for pests to come in, and maybe spray with insecticide if you’re especially worried.
-
Touch up paints. Aside from the fact that a fresh lick of paint looks great from the outside, old paint left untouched can end up peeling away from the door or fencing.
